2024 ASOIF´s first Sustainability workshop brings together IFs
A two-day workshop programme was hosted in Lausanne, Switzerland by the ASOIF Sustainability Consultive Group (ASCG).
Representatives from over 30 International Federations (IFs) and the International Olympic Committee attended the workshop to collaborate and exchange knowledge.
The World Rowing Sustainability team also took part in this insightful opportunity.
The two-day agenda included several topics related to how sports are needing to become more sustainable and IF-specific challenges and case stories were shared.
Participants received an update from the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Secretariat presented by Fernanda de Castro on the Sports for Climate Action (S4CA) framework.
Georgina Grenon, Director Environmental Excellence (SUS) for the Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games shared with the workshop participants the procurement and supply chain methods the Paris 2024 Organising Committee is applying.
Amy Munro the Sustainability officer from 11th Hour Racing Team presented their strategy on how they have incorporated sustainability into all of their team operations to drive long-term good change for the ocean.
Deqa Niamkey, Development Director of World Wrestling inspired the participants with the story of how Wrestling has created the programme “More than Medal”
A panel session with IFs sustainability leaders discussed their own approach on how they started to develop a Sustainability Strategy for their sport organisation.
The session was moderated by Alexandra Rickham, Head of Sustainability, World Sailing. The panellists included:

Riikka Rakic, Head of Strategy,
Sustainability & Governance of International Biathlon Union (IBU), Anne-Cecile Turner, CoFounder, The bloomUp and
Susie Tomson, Director of Sustainability of Think Beyond joined virtually.
