Para Rowing Classification Seminar strengthens expertise across the Americas

World Rowing, in collaboration with the Americas Paralympic Committee and Americas Rowing, is pleased to announce an upcoming online Para Rowing Classification Seminar, aimed at strengthening knowledge and capacity across the region.

The seminar will take place on 17 June 2026 and will be delivered by Dr. Roberto Nahon, member of the WR Para Rowing Classification Panel, a former rower and ultramarathon runner, a physician with specialisation in Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics, holding a Master’s degree in Clinical Medicine, a PhD in Neurology, and with a postdoctoral fellowship in joint disorders.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to support the development of Para Rowing and enhance the pathway for qualified classifiers within the Americas.

Building Knowledge and Capacity

The seminar will focus on two key areas:

  • The principles and structure of Para Rowing classification
  • The World Rowing classification training, development and certification pathway
By addressing both technical understanding and career progression, the session aims to attract interested individuals and encourage the development of future classifiers.

Target Audience

The seminar is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • Para Rowing stakeholders and practitioners
  • Aspiring national classifiers
  • Classification administrators
  • Representatives from National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and National Rowing Federations
