With its stunning coastline and growing enthusiasm for coastal sports, Korea is fast becoming a promising hub for Beach Sprint rowing. As the sport gains momentum, the need for well-trained technical delegates—those responsible for ensuring races meet international standards and uphold principles of fair play—has never been more vital.

Building on the success of the Beach Sprint Coaching training held in 2024, the Korea Rowing Association (KRA) took another significant step forward by hosting a Rowing Beach Sprint National Technical Delegates Introduction Workshop from 19th to 20th June 2025. The workshop was strategically timed ahead of the 1st Korea Rowing Association Presidential Cup National Sports Beach Sprint Rowing Competition, held at the scenic Surfyy Beach in Yangyang.

A total of 24 participants, including race officials and umpires, attended the two-day workshop. The sessions were led by Victor Ng, a member of the World Rowing Events Commission, and a WR Beach Sprint Technical Delegates Educator, who brought international expertise and practical insights into the training. Participants engaged in discussions on race protocols, event logistics, and the unique challenges of officiating Beach Sprint rowing; where timing, coordination, and environmental factors demand precision and adaptability.

This initiative marks a pivotal moment for the development of Beach Sprint rowing in Korea. By investing in the education and certification of technical delegates, KRA is laying the groundwork for a robust and credible competition framework. Such efforts not only enhance the quality of domestic events but also position Korea as a future contender for hosting international Beach Sprint competitions.
As training programmes continue to evolve and expand, they will play a crucial role in shaping the sport’s reputation and ensuring its sustainable growth across the region. With strong leadership and a commitment to excellence, the future of Beach Sprint rowing in Korea looks exceptionally bright.
