Bridging the Gap: World Rowing Development Programme Elevates Moldova and Georgia

Kruszwica, Poland – 25 May 2025 — The World Rowing Development Programme, in collaboration with the Organising Committee of the 2025 European Rowing Under 19 Championships, provided crucial support to three athletes and two coaches from Moldova and Georgia during the championships held in Kruszwica, Poland on 24–25 May 2025.

Among the supported athletes were Moldovan single scullers Dmitri Antiuhov (JM1x) and Diana Plotean (JW1x), and Georgian rower Nikolozi Kharchilava (JM1x).

All three competed in a competetive field of athletes, with Antiuhov finishing 3rd in the B final and Plotean placing 5th in her respective B final. Kharchilava secured 6th place in the same B final as Antiuhov.

Two coaches, one each from Moldova and Georgia, also benefited from the World Rowing Development programme, gaining valuable experience alongside Europe’s best junior coaching teams.

The programme, is aimed at fostering the growth of rowing in developing nations, enabling young athletes to compete at top international events. With full board accommodation, equipment, and training support, the programme assist with leveling the playing field for teams with limited resources.

The collaboration with the Organising Committee reflects World Rowing’s commitment to providing equal opportunities and nurturing future generations of rowers, regardless of national sporting budgets or infrastructure.
