Championing Sustainability: Water Wardens by Rowing Impact showcased on World Water Day 2024
On March 22, we celebrate World Water Day. On this day we highlight the importance of fresh, clean and healthy water and raise awareness to our rowing community about sustainable management of water. As water sport, Rowing depends on water and we are therefore “wardens” to protect our water systems from pollution, overuse, biodiversity decline and many other hazards.
The final conference of the Water Wardens by Rowing project themed ROWING AND WATER: HOW CAN WE MAKE OUR PRACTICE MORE SUSTAINABLE
Patricia Lambert, Strategic Advisor for Sustainability at World Rowing, and the French Rowing Federation (FFA) co-led the event.
During two round tables, speakers from the French Ministry of Sports and National Olympic Committee among others, discussed two topics with the attendees: “The evaluation and sustainable certification of events” and “The Organising Committee’s role in raising awareness about sustainability.”
Inspiring and involving the rowing community to incorporate water conservation methods into their daily lives, amplifying club and national level initiatives, and eventually contributing to the creation of healthier, more resilient, dynamic, and sustainable communities are all made possible by the WWbR project.
