In October 2024, the World Rowing Development Programme donated three Filippi coastal solo boats and three double boats to Jordan Rowing Federation. These boats were acquired through the Development of National Sports System (DNSS) project in Coastal Rowing, with significant support from Olympic Solidarity and Jordan National Olympic Committee.
This initiative marks the first Coastal Rowing project in Jordan, highlighting the sport’s potential, especially in the beach sprint format. This format is included in the Youth Olympic Games 2026 and the Olympic Games 2028 in Senegal and Los Angeles, respectively.
The new fleet will support the continuation of the DNSS project, which runs until December 2024. It aims to leave a lasting legacy by promoting and expanding Coastal Rowing in Jordan. Access to Rowing boats and equipment has been a significant challenge in promoting Rowing. This donation helps overcome this barrier, enabling Jordan Rowing Federation to initiate the sport and promote it in the local community in Aqaba.
