As part of the European Rowing Development Programme and with the generous assistance of the 2023 Krefeld European Rowing Under 23 Championships (ERU23CH) Local Organising Committee, four nations participated in the European Under 23 Championships in Germany.
World Rowing Development Coach Christine Gossé provided assistance and support to Latvia, Finland, Moldova, and Slovakia over the two days of racing. Christine was able to share and exchange her knowledge and experience with the team coaches as a highly experienced Olympic coach and multiple Olympian.


Vilma Kangasmäki, lightweight women’s single sculler from Finland, made it to her first-ever A final at a European and/or World U23, or Junior Championship, finishing in 6th place.
Laine Rumpe (LAT), won the Women’s single scull (BW1x) Final B, placing overall in 7th position. While Maiju Kainlauri (FIN) rowed into a 11th place overall in the BW1x field. Moldova had their two scullers finish in 8th (BLW1x) and 10th position (BLM1x). Jakub Herhonek (SVK) finished 2nd in Final B to place 8th overall in the Men’s single scull category.
