Paraguay hosts World Rowing Level 2 Performance Coach Course for the Americas

World Rowing successfully delivered a Level 2 Performance Coach Course in Asunción, Paraguay, from 20 to 28 April 2026 with the valuable support of Olympic Solidarity and outstanding local engagement of the Paraguay National Olympic Committee, further strengthening coach education and high-performance capacity in the region.

The course brought together 15 coaches from Paraguay and across the wider Pan American region at the National Olympic Committee Training Centre; it included participants from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay and Puerto Rico. All participants are actively engaged in coaching and athlete development, reflecting the growing commitment to long-term performance pathways within national Rowing systems.

Delivered through a combination of in person and online guided sessions including individual portfolio work, the programme covered key performance coaching topics such as  physiology, biomechanics, technique, rigging, psychology, safeguarding, athlete wellbeing, injuries and illnesses, athlete profiling and race strategy. The course also placed strong emphasis on active learning.

The programme was led by WR Educators Mark Homer, Sarah Harris, Rosie Mayglothling, Gianni Postiglione, Conny Draper, Mark Wilkinson, Zoltan Alfoldi and Inas Hussein, combining in‑person delivery and expert online guided contributions, ensuring both high technical quality and regional relevance. As part of the Level 2 Performance Coach pathway, participants will continue to complete post‑course work and practical coaching requirements in support of their certification.
