The World Rowing Youth Commission teamed up with the Development Programme to host a training camp leading up to the Paris WRU19CHs. Five countries from Asia, Americas and Africa had the opportunity to train at the future 2024 Olympic venue, at the “Base Nautique de Vaires sur Marne”.
Training camp athletes and coaches from Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Thailand and Tunisia were supported by four French coaching experts, Vincent Tassery, Dominique Giudici, Alain Gaime, and Youth Commission member Ibtissem Trimech (TUN).

The training camp included a total of eight U19 athletes and five coaches who worked as one team to prepare for the WRU19CH held from the 2nd to 6th of August 2023.

Safety is an essential aspect of any World Rowing development activity and following an initial risk assessment, the programme was structured priorising duty of care for athletes safety and well being.

Youth Rowing Commission member Ibtissem Trimech reviewed the World Rowing Development Programme Test Performance Protocol to help track, monitor and evaluate athletes performance level.

Athletes and coaches had the unique opportunity to prepare for the World Rowing Under 19 Championships, network with other coaches from around the world, and assess how their training programmes could be optimized to improve the performance of their athletes in the future.
The World Rowing Development Test Performance Programme was further explained in a presentation given to all coaches by Gianni Postiglione, the organization’s director of coaching.
Special Thanks to Filippi and Concept2 for providing the boats and oars for the training camp.
