World Rowing Beach Sprint Technical Delegates & Umpires National Training Heads to China

China Rowing Association (CRA) held a rowing beach sprint national technical delegates (TD) and umpires training courses from the 16th to the 19th of April 2025. Organised and funded on the initiative of the CRA as part of the World Rowing Development Programme for developed nations, a group of 25 experienced TDs and umpires completed the courses.

The course was run in Hailing Island, Yangjiang in Guangdong Province, where there are resort beaches very suitable for beach sprint events. China National Games beach sprints regatta will also be held in Hailing Island later this year.

The TD and umpire education programme was led by Victor Ng from the World Rowing Events Commission and Nick Hunter from the World Rowing Umpiring Commission. Victor and Nick are both World Rowing Technical Delegate Educators for beach sprints.

The training courses coincided with the first round of the CRA’s national beach sprint series at the same location. This gave the candidates an ideal opportunity to apply their learning by observing and analysing a regatta in action.

A big thank you to the CRA for making the course happen.
