Through the Development Programme of the World Rowing Championships 2022, a development training camp was offered for a smaller group of participants (especially countries coming from afar or with difficult local conditions) to help them get used to the venue and have couple days focused on rowing practice prior to the World CHs.
A total of 9 teams were invited to join the pre-event training camp running from 14-16 September: CYP – SRI – CUB – CIV- RSA- ZIM- LBN- PLE- GEO.
On 15 September, Gianni Patiglione, World Rowing Coaching Director, with the support of a multi-national group of World Rowing Development Coaches assigned for the Development Programme, presented a video analysis session advising participant coaches and athletes alike on rowing techniques in light of video footage of the rowers practicing on water.
The Development programme provides a safe space for coaches to learn from each other and share best practices to upscale the level of coaching and rowers’ performance from development nations.
