World Rowing Level 1 Classic Course in Malaysia

In a brief opening ceremony, the President of the Malaysian Rowing Association, Mr. Norhadi Ishari, warmly welcomed 13 Malaysian coaches to a six-day World Rowing Level 1 coaching course in Classic Rowing. World Rowing Head of Coach Education and Competitive Commission Chair, Rosie Mayglothling, together with World Rowing Educator Sam Wong engaged with the participants gaining insights into their backgrounds, locations, and rowing teams. Mr. Freddy Affendi, Sports Executive at the National Sports Institute of Malaysia, also attended the opening ceremony, offering support to the Malaysian Rowing Association.

The dedicated candidates, supported by the Assocation, had diligently completed all required external certifications and self-guided learning modules prior to the course. Held in Putrajaya, a premier rowing hub renowned for its Marina site, the course seamlessly integrated practical coaching techniques with strategic planning. This comprehensive approach facilitated valuable exchanges and reflections on current coaching methodologies.

The curriculum covered critical topics such as water safety, capsize drills, and risk management assessments, with animated and dynamic discussions. These sessions are expected to significantly enhance rowing safety protocols across various venues.

Gratitude is extended to the Olympic Council of Malaysia, Olympic Solidarity, and the Malaysian Rowing Association for their collaboration with World Rowing, ensuring the successful execution of this course, which we hope will contribute to the future development of Classic Rowing in Malaysia.
