The Moldova Rowing Federation hosted a Olympic Solidarity supported programme, which allowed 15 Moldovan coaches the opportunity to participate and complete a five-day World Rowing Level 1 coaching course in Classic Rowing

The course was lead by World Rowing Coach Educator, Mykolas Masilionis and took place in Tirapol, Moldova from the 1st to 5th of October 2024.

The curriculum encompassed essential subjects, including:

  • water safety
  • capsize drills
  • safety and risk management assessments

These sessions are anticipated to greatly improve rowing safety protocols at various locations.

Additionally, coaches are equipped with key skills needed for classic rowing, such as:

  • training session planning
  • effective communication
  • fundamental rowing techniques
  • applying diverse coaching strategies
  • scull rigging

The Level 1 Classic course expects coaches to plan, deliver, and evaluate individual coaching sessions aimed at teaching or improving rowing skills.

As a strong foundation in good coaching practices is essential. Above all, safety is the top priority.

The in-person course was preceded by an online course (WR L1 Development Coach Award), consisting of 11 guided self-learning modules that all coaches needed to complete.
